Five Hanson High School band members traveled to Sioux Falls to participate in the Augustana Band Festival November 12-13.
The festival, now in its 64th year, brought thousands of students from a five-state area to participate in two full days of ensemble and clinic work featuring three separate bands — Gold, Blue, and Honor — led by outstanding music educators/directors. Participating students were nominated by their high school directors, and the festival was organized and carried out by an Augustana committee of outstanding student musicians.
Band students that represented Hanson include: Colton Dillon, Doug Nelson, Emalea Nelson, Tannah Peterson and Elizabeth Rassel.
On Saturday, November 13, the festival wrapped up with The Grand Finale Concert at 6:30 PM in the Mary Sommervold Hall of the Washington Pavilion. The concert featured performances by the Gold, Blue, and Honor bands as well as the Augustana Band.
