Hanson Beavers fall short to Garretson Blue Dragons in a heartbreaking 37-30 loss

Hanson battled until the final whistle but came up just short against the Garretson Blue Dragons, falling 37-30 in a hard-fought contest.
The Beavers found success on the ground, rushing for 322 yards as a team. Jason Porth led the way with 19 carries for 149 yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Jett Jager added 139 rushing yards on 19 carries.
Jett Jager also passed for 58 yards while Pierce Kayser added 139 rushing yards and 42 receiving yards.
Defensively, Caiden Taglioli led the Beavers with 10 tackles. Pierce Kayser and Kieran Day followed with 9 tackles each.
Hanson forced two interceptions, with Jason Porth and Troy Tomasi each recording an interception.
Despite a strong rushing performance and several standout individual efforts, the Beavers couldn't quite overcome the Blue Dragons. In the end the Beavers could not find a way to win the game, 37-30 Garretson Blue Dragons win.
Hanson Junior High Girls Volleyball Teams fall short to Parkston

The Hanson Beavers 7th & 8th grade volleyball team took on the Parkston Trojans on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Parkston won both matches, but Hanson had several strong individual performances. In the 7th grade game, June Abbey had 4 perfect serves, while Adrian Schroeder had 4 successful serves and 1 ace. Anya Cromwell also recorded an ace. In the 8th grade game, Ava Borns was 5 for 6 in serving, while Clare Bumgardener was a perfect 4 for 4 while serving. Cora Haiar had 3 successful serves and 2 aces, and Adisyn Wingen recorded 1 ace. The ending score of the 7th grade game in the first set was 23 to 25, the second set was 9 to 25 with Parkston coming out on top in both sets. In the 8th grade game in the first set the score was 17 to 25, and in the second set the score was 15 to 25 Parkston winning both sets. The Beavers showed determination and teamwork throughout both matches.
Hanson comes away with 22-12 victory over Viborg-Hurley

On Monday, August 31st, the volleyball teams battled to a scoreless first quarter before Hanson made a comeback in the second quarter. Tayton Lachnit put Hanson on the scoreboard with a 11-yard touchdown run and added the two-point conversion. After Hank VanDover broke loose for a 72-yard run. Cash Tuttle finished the drive with a 3-yard touchdown and added another two-point conversion just before halftime, leaving the score at 16-6. Lachnit added a 26-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to seal the win, 22-12.
Hanson girls volleyball team comes up short despite strong effort

The team delivered a strong all-around performance, with all players giving great effort on offense and defense, but suffered the loss to Parkston on Thursday, September 3rd. Alivia Bender led the attack with 15 kills and added 10 digs, while Ava Doyle recorded 14 kills and 26 digs. Rylee Furgeson contributed 7 kills, 3 aces, and 4 digs. Brooklyn Jozlynn Tegethoff contributed with 2 aces, 2 kills, 4 assists, and 20 digs. Audrina Waldera worked with 18 assists and 16 digs.

The Hanson Volleyball team put together a strong effort, with the girls putting in a strong fight on offense and defense. The team fought hard but took the loss to Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Tuesday, September 1st. Ava Doyle led the team with 13 kills, adding 1 ace and 10 digs. Rylee Furgeson also had a strong offensive performance with 5 kills and 4 aces, while Alivia Bender recorded 4 kills, 3 aces, 2 blocks, and 5 digs. Brooklyn Schroeder contributed with 4 kills, 1 assist, 1 block, and 2 digs.
