The Hanson cross country team competed in the Flyer Invitational in Freeman, on Tuesday, September 15.

Despite the wind, the varsity girls placed two runners in the top 20. Taziah Hawkins led the team with a fifth-place finish (21:54) while Cadence Jarding followed in 15th place (22:57). The rest of the team ran very well with Alyssa Moschell finishing 24th (23:45); Reese Marek, 28th (24:14); Eliza Oltmanns, 43rd (25:21); and Erin Dewald, 45th (25:25). The girls’ team placed second overall.

In the boys’ varsity division, four runners competed. Carson Ferry ran the best finishing in 29th place (20:48) followed by Anthony Geist in 39th place (21:23); Jason Porth, 57th (23:45); and Will Jarding, 61st (24:53).

Placing in the boys’ junior high division was Rhett Marek who crossed the finish line in 12th place (12:53.01).  Braxon DeJong finished in 39th place (15:29.10) while Nash Hofer finished 53rd (17:04.95).

The next meet for the Hanson cross country team will be in Irene on Wednesday, September 21, for the Cornbelt Conference Meet.
