Megan (Doyle) Severtson

Megan (Doyle) Severtson graduated from Hanson High School in 2007 with a host of athletic accomplishments and awards. In basketball Severtson was the MVP for the Cornbelt Conference in 2005, 2006 and 2007.  She was named to the South Dakota Class B All State team for three years.

In 2007, Severtson made the all-tournament team and was the recipient of the Spirit of Su.  She was named to the Mitchell Daily Republic Player of the Year.

Severtson holds three Hanson records including most points scored and assists in a season and she holds the title of being the second all-time leading scorer, accumulated in her four years as a varsity player.

After high school, Severtson went on to have a successful career at Augustana University in Sioux Falls where she was a three-time NSIC All-conference player.

Along with playing in a state basketball tournament (2007), Severtson excelled in volleyball as an All-conference player.  She was the first Hanson volleyball player to be named to All-State status, leading the Beaverettes to their first ever volleyball team appearance in the state tournament.  Severtson also participated in track, oral interp, NHS, band, choir, and the school play.

Her parents, Randy and Mary Doyle, were a huge part of her athletic success.  They sacrificed much time and resources for her to have great basketball experiences.

Severtson credits a countless number of female athletes that have put on a Hanson basketball jersey before her.  Memories of competing with and against some of her best friends and playing in front of her family will remain highlights of her career in sports.
