Hanson’s Kade Waldera intercepts a Chester Area Fliers’ pass but Waldera was called out of bounds during Friday night’s game in Chester.

The Hanson Beavers traveled to Chester on Friday, October 1, to take on the number four ranked Chester Area Fliers. The Beavers beat the Fliers 22-20.  With the win, the Beavers moved their record to 6-0 on the season. 

After a scoreless first quarter, the Fliers got on the board first at the 9:19 mark of the second quarter with a 15-yard run and the extra point.  With 3:55 left in the second, Hadley Wallace ran in a 48-yard touchdown.   At the end of the first half the score was 7-6 in favor of the Fliers.
Starting the third quarter, the Beavers took the lead as Kade Waldera connected with Ethan Cheeseman for a 10-yard touchdown.  Brock Tuttle made the conversion.  Just seconds later, Chester Area scored on an 82 yard kick off return.  The Beavers held the lead at the end of the third with a score 14-13.

With 2:54 left in the fourth quarter, Chester Area scored on an eight yard touchdown to take the lead. With 52 seconds left in the game, Waldera passed to Riley Haynes for a 25-yard touchdown, giving the Beavers the lead.   Final score was 22-20 in favor of the Beavers.

The Beavers racked up 268 yards of total offense – 176 rushing yards and 92 passing yards. 
Leading the team in offense was Wallace with 16 carries for 133 yards, two receptions for 28 yards, and one touchdown. Riley Haynes had three receptions including one touchdown. Ethan Cheeseman had one catch for a touchdown.  Waldera went seven-for-10 on passing with 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensive leaders were Wallace with 12 tackles followed by Hayden Schroeder and Tuttle with 11 tackles each. Isayah Price tallied eight tackles while Waldera and Haynes had seven tackles apiece.

The Beavers will travel to Canistota on Friday, October 8, to play the Canistota/Freeman Pride.
