Hanson cross country runners that qualified for the State Cross Country Meet on October 23 in Sioux Falls are Cadence Jarding (left) and Taziah Hawkins.

The Hanson high school cross country team ran in the Region 3A Cross Country Meet in Beresford on Thursday, October 14.

In the varsity girls division, Taziah Hawkins crossed the finish line in 10th place (20:32.66) while Cadence Jarding placed 20th (21:15.37).  Alyssa Moschell finished in 26th place (21:50.16); Eliza Oltmanns, 33rd place (22:23.32); Reese Marek, 37th place (22:29.53); and Erin Dewald, 52nd place (24:05.67).

In the varsity boys’ division, Carson Ferry finished in 44th place (20:02.06) while Anthony Geist crossed the finish line in 51st place (20:47.0).  Jason Porth finished in 54th place (21:07.75) followed by Will Jarding in 55th place (21:13.25).

“The region meet was some of the toughest competition we have seen all year,” commented cross country coach Stacy Oltmanns.  “Stepping up the challenge of being a class ‘A’ school this year, the runners performed well.  Some running their best times of the season.  I am proud of the dedication, perseverance, and supportive teamwork of all the cross country athletes.  It has been a rewarding season watching this group grow as a team and find success,” stated Coach Oltmanns.  

By placing in the top 20, Jarding and Hawkins advance to the State Cross Country Meet to be held at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls on Saturday, October 23.
