On Saturday, November 13, the junior high girls basketball team played in the annual Hanson JH Girls Basketball Tournament. Overall, the team fought for a well-earned third place finish.

To start the morning, the team defeated the Canistota Hawks, 30-10. Paige Kayser led the team with five buckets, resulting in 10 points. Taziah Hawkins followed Kayser’s lead by contributing five points for the team. Other contributions included Dana Degen and Ava Doyle with four points apiece.  Taryn Holm tallied three points while Claire Bridge and Isabel Kayser added two points each.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket outscored the Beaverettes in the second game, but it was a close one. Towards the end of the contest, the team fought back from a 12-point deficit, but came up short, falling to SC/W, 20-22.  

Hawkins racked up 12 points to lead the team in scoring while Holm added four points. Brooke Endorf and Kendra Endorf had two points apiece. 

The girls faced Menno in the third place game. The young team performed great team ball, winning, 39-21, earning third place. Leading the Beaverettes was B. Endorf, scoring eight points in the game. P. Kayser put seven points on the board while Hawkins added six.  Others contributing in scoring were: Degen, four; K. Endorf, four; Bridge, four; Holm, two; I. Kayser, two; and Lacey Easton, two.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket took first place in the tournament. 

The JH girls basketball team host Canistota today, beginning with the seventh and eighth grade boys followed by the seventh and eighth grade girls.
