Hanson freshmen class at Perkins Restaurant in Mitchell.

On Wednesday, October 27, 27 freshmen students enrolled in the Nutrition and Wellness class took a mini field trip to Mitchell.

As part of their field trip, they went out to eat and visited the grocery store to apply concepts learned in class. At County Fair, students completed various shopping activities like unit pricing, comparison shopping, and coupon use. Afterwards, they went to dine out at Perkins. While there, students reviewed the menu for nutrition information, practiced ordering, calculated the tip, and displayed customer courtesy.

The students enjoyed their time away from school while learning valuable lessons that can be used in life.

“It was fun talking to the Country Fair workers about using coupons. I learned so much,” stated Olivia Kayser, a freshman student.

“I learned that doubling coupons really saves you money,” stated another freshman student, Weston Kayser.
