The Hanson Beavers faced the Canistota Hawks on Thursday, January 20, at home. 

The varsity Beavers started the game down, 13-15, in the first quarter. Heading into half, the score was 29-33 in favor of the Hawks. The Hawks outscored the Beavers, 15-16, making it a 44-49 point game in the third quarter. The Beavers and Hawks maintained a tough battle in the fourth. With 10 seconds on the clock, the Beavers were down by two and had the possession. Trying to find an open man, with only two seconds left on the clock, they threw the ball to Ethan Cheeseman, who swished in a three, giving the Beavers the advantage. Final score was Hanson 61, Canistota 60. 

Leading the Beavers was Cheeseman with 24 points, and eight rebounds. Noah Price had 19 points while Jackson Jarding added six and dished out three assists. Luke Haiar tallied 10 assists and two steals in the night. 

The Beavers shot 23-of-37 (62%) from the field; went three-of-17 (18%) from beyond the arc; and sank six-of-12 (50%) from the free throw line. 

With the win, the Beavers’ record is 7-3. 

The junior varsity defeated the Hawks, 41-11. Isayah Price was the leading scorer with 17 points. Sutton Dewald added 12 points while Hayden Wallace had four. Keaton Weber, Hayden Schroeder, Hadley Wallace, and Ben Wilber put up two points. 

The JV has a record of 10-0.

The C-team slid past Canistota with a final score of 24-17. Leading the Beavers was Keaton Weber with nine points. B. Wilber cashed in five while Jeren Zens had four. Carter Popp and AJ Wilber contributed three points apiece. 

The JV record now stands at 3-1.
