Hanson School District

Three Hanson middle school wrestlers were in Huron on Saturday, January 15, to wrestle in the Huron Middle School Wrestling Tournament.

Eighth grader, Stetson Riggs, placed first overall in the 163 pound weight class.  In his first match, Riggs won by fall in the first period over Jensen Wientjes of Watertown.  Riggs won by decision, 7-0, over Alshamon Gunter of Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon in his second match.

Seventh grader, Carson Kampshoff, wrestled in the 103 pound weight class and brought home first place.  Kampshoff defeated Cooper Rilling of Harrisburg in his first match with a score of 4-1.  Kampshoff won over Levi Quam of Brookings with a score of 8-4 in his second match.

Eighth grader, Maverick Haiar, placed fourth at the tournament.  Haiar lost by fall to Teagan Ryan of Harrisburg in his first match.  In his second match, Haiar fell to Gable Uhrig of Pierre.  Noah Horsley of Pierre won by fall over Haiar in the third match.

Riggs and Kampshoff wrestled in Parkston on Saturday, January 22.

Riggs, Kampshoff and Haiar will wrestle in Volga on Monday, January 24, at the Sioux Valley Middle School Tournament.
